National and International Assessment

Provincial Assessment Classroom Assessment and Reporting National and International Assessment

British Columbia students participate in a number of national and international assessments to help determine how our education system performs in relation to education systems nationally and from around the world.

National and international assessments serve as external reference points for student performance allowing B.C. to compare itself to other jurisdictions and measure performance against international benchmarks. These results can provide insights into the range of factors that contribute to the success of students, schools, and education systems.

The national and international assessments include the Pan-Canadian Assessment Program (PCAP), Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), and the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS).
